Mallory, Mother of 2
Leah is an exceptional occupational therapist! Leah worked with our family one hour each week (sometimes more!) for a year and a half. Every visit she showed patience and diligence in her work with my daughter. She helped us define clear goals and expectations for our daughter and revisited these objectives with regularity to ensure we were making progress and adjusting goals when expectations were met.
Leah was able to work with my daughter and truly challenge her without her even knowing how much work she was really doing! She made my very shy and timid daughter feel comfortable and at ease when working with her. She was able to focus my daughter’s attention or redirect her if she lost interest so that every exercise was truly challenging her. Leah came prepared with a variety of equipment, toys, and materials to assist in her therapy sessions. She ended each session by describing to me a variety of fun exercises we could continue at home between sessions.
Leah went out of her way to be flexible with our hectic schedule and worked with us after normal business hours due to my full-time job and our other early intervention services throughout the week. She was easy to communicate with and responded to emails, texts, and phone calls in a timely manner.
I regularly challenged Leah with questions and described circumstances with seemingly no answers, yet Leah always had a solution on the spot for my questions. When I would present her with particularly challenging questions or concerns, she would talk with colleagues, conduct research, and develop a response and a new set of goals to address these concerns by the following session. I feel that her compassion for my concerns and her attentive responses made me feel at ease as much as helped my daughter achieve her goals. She is a dedicated and knowledgeable occupational therapist and a genuinely great person.
Leah communicated her work and progress through reports following each visit she had with our daughter. I was able to use these reports to see the progress my daughter made over the months. When I needed a separate report or help with other services related to my daughter’s OT, Leah would work with me to draft responses or reports for her OT services. Additionally, Leah worked as a part of a team through her own internal occupational therapy team but also with our other early intervention service providers to collaborate to address our broader goals. She communicated with the other service providers through shared therapy sessions as well as outside of our regularly scheduled sessions.
I am incredibly thankful we had the opportunity to work with Leah and benefit from her hard work! Her work provided my daughter with the skills she needed to form the confidence I see in her today.
